YEARS 7, 8 AND 9 SQUAURE IT OUT FOR SPELLING CHAMPIONSHIP 2011
When the clock struck 2pm on the 29th April 2011, the above years were rough and ready for an intense busy two hour contest: the spelling bee following the Standard British English Orthography.
The activity was organized in such a way that it progressed from common spellings of teachers' names , to common everyday words, then on to technical register field and finally to what the student's popularly refer to as the pro level.
To come out shining, the participants had to be keen listeners, alert, quick to the mic and control their fears. At some point, the house was drowned in a deluge of laughter when one participant pronounced the word Chege as Macharia. Ha ha ha. But then, such moments make it quite lively.
All in all, It was an exciting two hour show, what with the competitors fumbling and stuttering over words. The most hilarious moment captured was during the 'know your environment' category especially when most of the competitors could not spell the headmaster's first name "BANERJEE"!
